Book at Table
Book a Room

We just had one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever seen.  A wonderful couple, he a professor, she a mathematician, met one year ago on Match.com.  It may have started in cyberspace, but this couple knew that they wanted a small traditional wedding.

It started with a ceremony in our garden, Kathlyn Court.  The carved angel fountain was decked in flowers and the chairs were set in a semi circle.  The bride swept down the aisle under the canopy of the loggia with her daughter.  The groom looked stunned that his bride was so beautiful.  Their children surrounded them as the bride’s sister officiated. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place.

Wines from Bellview Vineyards and hors d’oeuvres were passed on silver trays full of sushi, smoked salmon tartar in cucumber cups, sausage en croute, scallops served in porcelain spoons, vegetable and fruit crudités and artisanal cheeses and breads.

Guests the moved inside to the sound of Rio and his band, jazz, rock, oldies, standards.
The Steinway baby grand piano got a work out as the party got started and folks started dancing, swinging and swaying.

Food was definitely the star that night.  The tables were lit with long white tapers, silver julep cups filled with jewel tone roses and snapdragons in shade of deep purple and rose, sat on each table.  Sea shells adorned with gold calligraphy acted as place cards and a gift for each guest.

The bride and groom spent their wedding night in the commodious Victoria and Albert Room.  Surrounded in soft shades of sage and ivory toile, the massive wood bed swathed in green silk, with Egyptian Cotton linens and a feather duvet.  The green marble working fireplace is flanked by two paned windows overlooking the Victorian houses of historic Centre Street and our huge old oak tree.  A Louis IV desk, mirrored armoire, an antique French chest of drawers, crystal chandelier and sconces set the stage for a romantic retreat.

The verdigris marble bathroom is dominated by a whirlpool tub for two, old fashioned pedestal sink, and fluffy bath sheets. The modern convenience of climate control air conditioning and heat, wall mount LCD TV with DVD/CD player, WIFI and in room telephone make the old and charming, updated and comfortable.
